This course is suitable for both experienced operators who require certification and new operators who need foundational training, practical seat time, and hands-on instruction. A skilled operator has at least 100 hours of recent experience operating an excavator.

WestPro’s Excavator Operator Training equips operators with the knowledge, confidence, and practical experience required to operate machinery safely and effectively in the field. This comprehensive course focuses on current health and safety requirements, hazard awareness, equipment inspection, and preventative maintenance. Students will master the key safety and performance practices needed to operate excavators in a controlled, professional, and job-ready manner.
To ensure a thorough understanding of safe operating principles before handling the equipment, the curriculum combines a detailed theory component and written knowledge assessment with hands-on practical training and evaluation.
Skilled operators complete a practical assessment to demonstrate their ability to operate the excavator safely, efficiently, and in accordance with workplace requirements. The assessment includes a series of operating and maneuvering exercises and typically takes approximately 20–30 minutes.
