This course is suitable for both experienced operators who require certification and new operators who need foundational training, practical seat time, and hands-on instruction. A new operator does not have over 100 hours of recent experience operating an excavator.

WestPro’s Excavator Operator Training equips operators with the knowledge, confidence, and practical experience required to operate machinery safely and effectively in the field. This comprehensive course focuses on current health and safety requirements, hazard awareness, equipment inspection, and preventative maintenance. Students will master the key safety and performance practices needed to operate excavators in a controlled, professional, and job-ready manner.

To ensure a thorough understanding of safe operating principles before handling the equipment, the curriculum combines a detailed theory component and written knowledge assessment with hands-on practical training and evaluation.

This course is intended for individuals who require foundational training, practical seat time, and the basic knowledge needed to operate an excavator safely. New operators receive approximately 2 hours of operating time on the equipment and must demonstrate safe and efficient operation through a series of inspection, driving, maneuvering, excavating, positioning, and attachment-use exercises.
